Sheffield- The Town of Murals
Sheffield is 30 minutes from Devonport and 50 minutes from Cradle Mountain, and is a popular tourist stop in it’s own right.
The town is covered in murals, and there is even a designated mural park that gets updated every year from the International Mural Fest Competition. The paint-off is between 9 artists and starts over the Easter weekend. At the end of the week the judges decide the winner, and an award is presented.
Mount Roland is a stunning backdrop to this little country town, and definitely worth the
Tassie is known for its wild and rugged scenery, not shopping, so Slaters on the main street of Sheffield is a popular clothing store on the northwest coast where classy and quality meet.
15 minutes down the road is the fabulous Tasmazia and the Village of Lower Crackpot- I may have chosen to spend my 18th birthday roaming around the mazes and laughing at the miniature village with the tongue-in-cheek wit. The Pancake Parlour is a hit with adults and kids alike, or alternatively they are happy for you to bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds.
For an interesting trip, make sure you drive through Railton known for it’s topiary, and Wilmot is peppered with funky and unusual letterboxes. Keep an eye out for signs to Nowhere Else, Nook and Paradise- there is plenty to entertain you on the scenic drive.
